About Karen

Karen Hickey earned a B.A. in interior design from the University of Kentucky. After acting as project manager for a high-end residential firm in Northern California, Karen and her family returned to Los Angeles where she and her husband were born and raised.

Karen currently serves on the Board of Directors for the ASID Los Angeles Chapter.

She was an active volunteer with Nest Feathers since its beginning in 2003 and served as Director from 2005 until 2013. During that time, she used her skills to recruit over one hundred volunteers, procured thousands of dollars worth of furniture, finishes and accessories to furnish spaces for Prototypes, Downtown Women’s Center and Jenesse Center. In 2012 ASID Los Angeles awarded Karen with the Adele Faulkner Award for outstanding community service.

Karen is a firm believer that good design should be available to everyone.
